Q & A • Wise River Productions Q. The best month in Montana? A. "It would have to be September. It's the last taste of summer ~ the trout are still hitting hoppers, the days are sunny and as I pack up my shorts and unpack the flannels, I get a solid glimpse of the fall and winter to come. And even though it's a month of transition and change, one never knows what to expect. Scouting assignments during September usually involves fall color ~ and hey, what's not to like about that!" Q. The Gallatin, Madison or Yellowstone? A. "Definitely, the Gallatin. I love fly fishing with my boys and, while it may not be the most productive of the three rivers, it's beauty and accessibility make it our favorite. But then again... I do love taking the drift boat down the other two." Q. A quote to live by? A. "Don't worry about the mule going blind, just keep loading the wagon." Q. Your favorite light? A. "It usually reveals itself during the last few minutes of the day ~ starting with when the sun is about two fingers width above the western horizon. It's definitely an exciting window of opportunity, especially when you are collaborating with others and all of the pieces fall into place. There is a quality of light up here in Montana that one can't describe. When you're dealing with the Big Sky and all of it's magical qualities, moments will unfold that photographers and directors could never imagine." Q. Why Wise River Productions? A. "I fell in love with Montana many years ago and I still treasure my collection of memories created along the Big Hole River, not too far from where the Wise River spills into it. It's an inspiring part of the state and it's still one of my favorite places to visit ~ so it makes perfect sense to me! And frankly, Big Hole Productions just didn't have the same swing."
